MSM celebrates WAtoN Day 2025

MSM celebrates WAtoN Day 2025 with on-site activities and participation in the official event in London

On 1 July, the World Marine Aids to Navigation Day 2025 was celebrated, an initiative promoted by IALA to highlight the essential role of Aids to Navigation (AtoN) in maritime safety and sustainable development.

This year’s theme, “The role of physical AtoN in a digital future”, invites us to reflect on the synergy between traditional physical signals and advanced digital systems. As the maritime sector moves increasingly toward digitalisation, physical AtoN remain indispensable:

  • They complement cutting-edge technologies.
  • They provide a reliable backup in the event of system failures.
  • They offer visual confirmation of digital signals, reinforcing confidence in navigation.

To commemorate the day, MSM organised a festive event at our facilities, where the entire team enjoyed a traditional Valencian paella and a fun table football tournament. We also celebrated with our partners from M-NAV SOLUTIONS, strengthening the bonds of a close-knit, committed, and passionate team in the AtoN sector.

MSM also took part in the official WAtoN Day 2025 event in London, organised by the UK Department for Transport, Trinity House, the Northern Lighthouse Board, and IALA. Our colleague Sarah Leullier represented the company at this international gathering held at Trinity House headquarters. The event featured technical presentations and networking opportunities with professionals from around the world, as well as a visit to Trinity House’s facilities in Harwich.

At MSM, we thank the event organisers for their excellent work in promoting the strategic value of Aids to Navigation — both in physical and digital environments.
